Hi, my name is Nicholas Guitard and welcome to Waterfalls of New Brunswick. I am an amateur photographer who enjoys the outdoors and photography. Capturing our natural world through the lens of a camera is one of my keen interest and so I decided to develop this website to share the numerous beautiful waterfalls in Canada’s Picture Province. I truly believe we are not a drive “thru” province, but a haven of natural beauty for all to enjoy.
My backdrop is Mary Pitcher Falls which flows south easterly into the Big Salmon River. I would suggest that it maybe the highest waterfall in New Brunswick.

Lloyd Joslin here, this place once belonged to my grandfather I haven’t been to the falls in 40 years, would love to go , contac me if you wish.
Truly amazing and surreal. Your walking and your sense of “quiet” lead you to beautiful places.
The images of Howland Falls bring back memories of smells and the damp canyon that holds the falls. The walk down to the falls is steep…the walk up seems even steeper. If you don’t mind the rough walking over slick rocks, the trout are waiting downstream. Roaring from the boiling falls cover all civilized sounds and sometimes the sounds of some wild company. I remember casting a difficult fly and when I turned to watch the back cast finding a coyote eyeing me from a steep hill ten or twelve feet above. Didn’t hear a thing.
What a great site ,I took my wife and 5 year up to hayes falls today ..What a great idea you have here ,my family enjoyed our day and will be taking more of theses day trip hikes to enjoy our great nature .
thanks
contact me and I will give you directions to a waterfalls not many know exist it is a nice hike thru the woods but if my memory serves me right it was a decent falls but that was 15 years ago too
Fall Brook Falls – Miramichi
Beautiful photos ! Your website is wonderful ! I have forwarded the website link to several of my friends.
I have visited these falls several times and they are spectactular. They are a hidden Miramichi treasure. You may also want to visit Trout Brook Falls which are located just down river on the right side. We stopped there while canoeing the Miramichi and it was about a 20-30 min. walk up the brook.
Thanks for sharing your photos!
nicholas, this is the software program that I use to stitch photographs together. roxio photo suite 7 , can be purchased at most software stores ,it is inexpensive and will give you a whole new dimention especially where a one shot just wont do the job.one can stand in one spot and do a 360 horizontally and 180 vertically.
hi…met you at the native craft store, this site is very impressive …since I was talking to you, other people have been sent across my path either suggesting other tours or having the ecpertise to be tour guides…I will keep in touch about possible tours to these sites …keep up the excellent work.
I started taking WF pictures a couple of years ago. There’s nothing like having a cup of tea and snack looking and listening. Not to mention the journey to get there.
Your web site is extremly well done. Thank you for sharing.
Bill
Hey there,
I love waterfalls too. Here are a few that you can find on a map in the fundy region: Crooked Creek falls, Memel falls (2), in fundy Nat. Park Dickson falls, Third Vault falls & Laverty falls. There is also an underground lake in Hillsborough on the Albert mines road.
You can also look at the South Nepisiguit river in the Bathurst Miramichi area.
hi nicholas, i had a great meeting with the premier shawn ghaham, and he is very excited about my project to have waterfalls located in new brunswick become a tourist attraction in its self. he has provided a tourism represenative to help. I have asked this represenative for a presentation from our watershed association in the first or second week in november. I want to do a professional show and tell ,so convincing no one gould ever say no. I am starting to put my program of presentation together now. I will be asking other provinces and states to share their waterfall tourist programs with me. I want you as part of my resource team, can I count on you ? yes I know I can. I would like to meet with you as soon as possible to discuss stratagy and see where you think this project should go. ps this is a private communication with you a can not be shared with anyone else at this time ,. thanks again ,robin.
Hello Nicholas,
I am an avid whitewater kayaker and have been looking at your site as inspiration to go run some new ones. We have run rivers in the Fundy area such as the 45 and goose creek as well as Quiddy if your ever near saint john Lepreau falls is just of the highway close to point leprau.
cheers,
Hi … the falls that my father is talking about is on the Nackawic Stream near Nortondale on Highway # 585. It is very close to the bridge known as Millseat(M480) in York County. i am still planning on looking into tours out of the city … I am going to approach some of the taxi companys.

Hi Nicholas, great display of your waterfalls at the fredericton public library. Just to give you a little update on the Oromocto watershed waterfall file; we have located nearly 200 waterfalls thus far and are recording the GPS locations for a spring shoot. We will be featuring 6 waterfalls with signage ,and cordinate with the support of the town of Oromocto this spring. We have retained a volunteer researcher to investigate how vermont and maine promote their waterfalls as attractions; including liability protection and their legislation relating to public access. this data will be collected and presented to tourism dept at a June meeting. When we have the draft form I would like to have your input ,it would be very much appreciated. Nicholas I have just finished writing a discussion paper on the new forestry harvest policies and watershed protection policies- recently released by the province of new brunswick, I would like you to read it ,there is much to be worried about. Nobody out there seems to be concerned about the green zone protecting our streams ,lakes and rivers. Thanks for all your great work in promoting waterfalls and new Brunswick as the picture province. Robin Hanson, president of the Oromocto Watershed Association.
wow… amazing site… do you do field trips?
Hi Nick
As you know, Wayne and I are avid geocachers (2700 finds in total)and we both really enjoy the outdoors and waterfall scenes. I quickly went to a few of your photos in York County and yes, we have been to a few of these. We really appreciate have the Latitude and Longitude listed so we can use this website as a resource for future caching. Since cachers enjoy the outdoors, we will certainly spread the words to the ones we know. Please continue including the North and Western Co-ordinates.
Thanks for all your hard work. May I suggest that you contact someone from geocaching.com and maybe they would be able to designate an icon on their web maps.

It was really nice meeting you Nick and your friend at Laferty Falls in Fundy today. Your website is amazing! Loving it! Take care!
Really enjoyed your presentation and was nice to finally meet you at the library last night. The book is spectacular. Once again thank you for such a great job on this web site.
Bill
How big does a waterfall ned to be to be included? I know of one in Fredericton about one metre which I do not see on the list.
Hi Nick,
I really enjoyed your slide presentation at the Bathurst library and your book “Waterfalls of New Brunswick.” Send me an e-mail and I will send you info on the Falls of the Southeast Upsalquitch River. If you send me the coordinates for Taylor Brook I can plan a trip to different falls in that area. To get to Taylor Meadow we would travel 9-10 km on the Hickey Road. There may be many falls in that area, since the brooks all feed into the Lower South Branch of the Jacket River. The South Branch flows in a very steep valley. There is also the Jacquet River Falls, located on the upper part of the main Jacket River. While doing my owl surveys, I will check out some of this falls for you.
Cheers,
Rod
Hi/bonjour, You must be congratulated, the art of bringing the waterfalls of NB to public knowledge and appreciation of their beauty in the abounding nature. Have seen a few in your book, you offer a wonderful challenge to get to see many of the others. I saw the Benjamain when I was a kid, it was easier to get to in the late 40s.
How can we persuade the government to open the Charlo Falls as a beautiful passive nature park? Listen to music of the falls and contemplate the best of nature.
Jim Hayes
Hi. I enjoyed listening to you talk to Terry Seguin this morning. I tried to remember the name of the creek you mentioned near the end, one that runs into the Little Salmon River. I don’t know if you meant in St. John Co. Could you let me know the name of that creek please. Do you know of a brook in Studholm parish that used to be called Stones Brook? I can’t wait to buy your book. Thank you. JKennedy
Hello Nick,
My name is Jordon, Im only 20 years old, and I really wanted to thank you for making my previous and current summer one to remember. I’m sure the summers ahead will end the same way. I found you site online sometime last summer, Myself and my girlfriend have been checking out numerious waterfalls from you site. I have to say falls brook falls has been the one that hold the best memory, me and my girlfriend decided to hike the waterfall up along the right hand side. It was a hard hike but the view from the top of the falls made it all worth it, Sitting about 20 feet above the tree tops, with the water rushing over the rock. I love it, aswell did she. I was curious though, the picture you have at the top of the page, which waterfall is that? Id liek to check that one out, Monday we went to howland falls, it was very nice, this friday were heading to st john county to check out a few others. thanks again, Your website is amazing, and you are great with photography, an inspiration to me thats for sure.
Jordon
Hi Nicholas.
Thanks loads for this super site.
I have one nit-picky observation: When I attended UNB back in the 70s and 80s, I was taught that the proper spelling of the basic S.I. unit of length is “metre,” not “meter.” I believe the official U.S. spelling is, in fact, “meter,” but most of the rest of the world (including Canada) uses “metre” for the unit of length while reserving “meter” to refer to a device that measures something. Here’s a web site that bears out my claim: .
Keep up your good work. And I hope you get back to Walton Glen Falls sometime when it’s in fuller flow. I happened upon it once, following a heavy rainfall, and I assure you it’s very impressive.
Grace and shalom,
Brian
Hi Nick!
I got your guidebook & the original Waterfalls of NB for Father’s Day and immediately set out the next day to find Garden Creek Falls, as my granddaughter, Mallory attends Garden Creek School. I was impressed that I had been driving by that site and never knew one of natures treasures was at my door step!!
So we decided to make Split Rock Falls our Family hike today. Eight of us from 7 – almost 70!! Headed out w/GPS in hand. Being an old soldier, time in reconnaissance is seldom wasted. So on Saturday I followed your directions to take the service road and drove as far as the gravel went. I started hiking and came up against the deer fence so i back tracked and headed off to find the falls. Looking left (downstream)from the new highway span, I couldn’t see anything that look like the falls. Arguing with the GPS that the falls were downstream, I went right for 30 minutes. Very pleasant hike along and through Jewett’s Creek,I didn’t come across the falls so i headed back to the car. In the process i ended up going through a raspberry thicket and have the cuts to prove it.
So on Sunday, our band of eight when done to Jewett’s Cove and started heading upstream contrary to the GPS coordinates! So we decided to take the tunnel through to Jewett’s Cove and the fish ladder built a couple of years ago…but no Split Rock Falls!! So my conclusion is that it was buried under the new culverts and pipes that run under the old river road.
No falls meant I had to come up with Plan B and try to find Kitchen Falls! That was a treat and with all the rain recently, the Falls were splendid. The hike was deemed a success and everyone enjoyed the day, but I was left with the burning question… what has happened to Split Rock Falls?
Enjoying your book and the anecdotes for each of the Falls. As my daughter said, “Only 45 more to go!!”
Thanks very much for sharing all these lovely treasures in one convenient guidebook complete with directions. I now have a new passion!
Ciao!
Randall
I have read about a Redden Falls at N45 36′ 36.54″, W65 51′ 3.04″ near Long Point, Kingston Peninsula. From the photos it looks good.
Hi. I am anxious sfor a answer to Randall (above). THat is the sort of thing I wish to avoid. I am sure the falls are there but in which direction?
hi.. Thanks to you and your book i have discovered a love i never knew I had. I just discovered my love of waterfalls and for the rock formations.I also love hiking. I have only been to three different ones that are in my community but fell in love with waterfalling. Someday I hope to see all the ones that are listed in your book. We have such beauty in our own province and it is a shame to go thousands of miles away when you can see beautiful scenerey in your own back yard
I’ve been to a few of these falls and would love to see more. I went to Coles to buy the book and found that it was 4 or 5 dollars more for a Canadian to buy. What a shame and insult. I can’t justify it and hope the book dies on the vine. This is just not right and I can’t support an effort that penalizes a Canadian wishing to be informed about the beauty of his or her country. Maybe you just want to be an American. I know you’ll have an excuse but there can in reality be none.

Hello Nicholas
I grew up across the Tobique river, from and about half-way between the Odell and Odellach Rivers. I have been to Maggies Falls several times when I was younger snd still had family in the area. But I must confess I never even heard about the two falls on the Odell River. Thanks for the great pictures and narrative. It “goes to show you”, that some of the most spectactor natural sights are under our noses, and are there for us to enjoy, if we would only look.
I will immediately seize your rss feed as I can not find your email subscription link or e-newsletter service.
Do you’ve any? Please permit me recognize so that I may subscribe. Thanks.
The falls are awesome I did not realize these were in my backyard, would it be possible to have the direction to the falls?
Thank you
Hi Nick,
I must say, I stumbled upon your website randomly while searching for Maggie’s Falls, and I have to say, this website is amazing! I’m from Grand Falls and I had no clue that there were eight waterfalls within my county! I’ve been to three of them so far with my friends and I hope to visit all of them before the end of summer! Thanks for such great information, photography and new-found hobby!
Hi Nicholas, was wondering if you are interested in seeing the mactuquac falls, if so, give me an email sometime and myself and husband would gladly take you to the destination, not many people have heard of these falls and dont even know that they exist.
P. S. I love this site and visit it frequently
I nicholas, i have seen one of your photo in the issue saltscape mag. very nice i see you are still going around the province locating new falls .Good job..

Greetings….I am a member of a Waterfall Club in Hamilton Ontario. We have, in fact, managed to get our city ‘branded’ as “Waterfall Capital of the World”. Sounds grandiose, I know, but because we are situated on the Niagara Escarpment, (which traverses the City), we have well over 140 waterfalls within city limits, and still discovering new little gems yearly.
I am interested in seeing photos of waterfalls in NB, because I have been travelling through on the way to PEI for well over 45 years. It has only been the last few years that my Hubbie & I have actually looked around us, and discovered, you do indeed have a lovely province. I have many pictures of the falls at Plaster Rock, but they are not good quality (grayish weather, and too much mist) Plaster Rock is where we turned to catch the route through the center of the area. I will now scan you site to see if there are any falls that would bear investigation. This year, we are hoping to spend a week in NB before leaving for the Island – Waterfalls, fishing, Acadian museums / events and would appreciate any specific suggestions
